I saw Bukka in London in the 1970s - a powerful performer! I wish I could have heard him in the late 30s when his voice was (for me) at its peak.

+1 for Smith Casey, who is the reason I bought that Document compilation. If memory serves me well, I heard a track on the Weenie Juke and then had to buy it. Some other good stuff on there as well. Highly recommended.

Great thread. Top of my list would be Robert Pete Williams at Portland University, April 20th 1970. Next, Son House at the 100 Club in London, July 14th 1970. Finally, Fred McDowell at the Tacoma Court coffeehouse, April 14th 1971.

I second Willie Walker. I'd also love to have seen Richard "Rabbit" Brown, and Rob Cooper & Andy Boy of Santa Fe fame.
