Burnside instruction- Poor Black Mattie
« on: February 25, 2013, 02:59:12 PM »
A fellow by the name of Niven (who a number of us know well as a fellow EBA Bluesweek student, though not in recent years) has really nailed a number of Burnside tunes (and other hill country swampy stuff) and has put out some really good videos on youtube, explaining how he does some of it...

I've not seen him for a few years- the progress in his playing is amazing.  I imagine he;s put some serious time into this stuff...

Why is it some of us are so entranced by that Burnside lick which is "Poor Black Mattie"?

I think some of it is that we perceive R L Burnside as a very nice man, self-effacing and generous.
