Hi all,
I've spoken to Frank, and he has a lot on his table and really does not have time to put together the Song of the Month schedule for 2017. Do folks want to continue on with different people presenting a Song of the Month throughout 2017? I've enjoyed seeing what people have chosen and researched each month for the past two years, and I suppose we have an advantage at this point in terms of knowing what the drill is.

I'm willing to take the heat off by offering to prepare a Song of the Month for January 2017 in the remaining two days of the month. People interested in taking responsibility for selecting and preparing a Song of the Month for the remainder of the year should post the month they would like to take responsibility for in this thread. I don't think we have to have the entire year mapped out before we start, but it would be helpful to have folks willing to take on the first few months, at least.

I hope there will be people who will want to continue presenting Songs of the Month. Post here if you're interested, and I'd like to personally thank Frank for coming up with the idea and getting the ball rolling the first two years. I think it has been a valuable addition to the site.

I've just been advised that there is no requirement for the SOTM post to be scholarly or learned, so I'm definitely qualified. I'll do Careless Love for the April SOTM posting.

Hi all,
We've had a great run of Songs of the Month in the first half of 2017, but looking ahead at the remainder of the year, we have only two months spoken for: banjochris has volunteered to do the Song of the Month for July and Pan has agreed to do November's Song of the Month. Would any of you out there care to select the Song of the Month and prepare the initial posts for August, September, October and December 2017? If you've not done it before, it is a great opportunity to find out more about a song you already enjoy. And there is no requirement for a set format, heavy-duty scholarship, etc. Perhaps we could give people who have not already selected one of the Songs of the Month in the first half of the year a crack at the remaining months. Anybody want to do one of the remaining months?

Hi all,
There is currently no one who has agreed to take on the Song of the Month selection for August, September and December of this year. Anyone willing to take August? The initial post need not be learned or exhaustive in the examples of the song in the initial post. A less thorough initial post can leave more versions for other folks to find. It is fun, though, scouting out a lot of versions. Any takers?

I have actually been working on my October SOTM. It is probably close enough to ready that I could take August (instead). I'm just overly obsessing on what to add to it, anyway.

Thanks for that offer, Dave. If you feel more or less ready to go this month, let's make the switch and somebody else can step up and take October when it rolls around. And there's no pressing need to make the initial post in August before you feel you've gotten your research where you want it. Thanks!
