Fiddlin' Charlie Thomas lists "Sittin' On Top of the World" as part of his usual repertoire on Dr. Tate's medicine show, a show he played in 1925 and 1926. Is it possible this song--composed by the Sheiks--was written by then?  Or is this more likely to be the Al Jolson song by the same name?  Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

I would guess it would probably have been the pop tune version as it was published in 1925 and would have been a brand new song at the time (although it is usually titled I'm Sittin' On Top Of The World.) I believe the Sheiks tune was recorded by them in 1930.
