When I briefly had the tiple that went to rick218, I used standard ukulele C tuning (GCEA -  the way I remembered this tuning was by inventing my own (daft) mnemonic: General Custer Eats Arrows).  I know Rick keeps it in the D tuning you mention.

Blues on a Tiple

Howdy:

I recently aquired a Regal 1920's tiple. A tiple is a 10 string uke-sized instrument, tuned like a uke with the outer courses doubled and the inner two courses tripled (one low octave and two higher octave strings).

Sounds pretty cool (all the strings are steel). I just wonder, have any of you heard any blues or blues-like music played on a tiple? I'd just like to figure out a "place" for the tiple to operate.

I have arranged LHJ's "Rolled from Side to Side" on the tiple and it sounds good. I'd just like to know if there's anything out there.

  There is a song called "Tiple Blues" by the Allen Brothers, although it's not clear to me if he's actually playing a tiple or if it's a tenor banjo (like he normally played).

I happened to see "The Duke Is Tops" on TV a couple of nights ago. The Cats And The Fiddle were in it. I was curious about the band and did some searching. It appears that Ernie Price is playing a tiple in the film. Some links:
