Whiskey And Gin Blues

Memphis Slim – Vocals, Piano

December 4, 1941
Chicago, Illinois

Piano In C

I've been out all day drinking both whiskey and gin
I've been out all day baby drinking both whiskey and gin
Now if you catch me sober please make me drunk again

I'm not drinking because I'm thirsty neither because I'm blue
I'm not drinking because I'm thirsty neither because I'm blue
I just got to stay drunk woman to try to get along with you

Whiskey made me staggle (sic) and stumble fall down and scar my chin
Whiskey made me staggle (sic) and stumble fall down and scar my chin
I know you ain't no good mr. whiskey but I’ve got to try you again

I'm drunk Monday Tuesday and Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday too
I'm drunk Monday Tuesday and Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday too
I'm suppose to get drunk on a Sunday as I have nothin’ else to do

Good whiskey good whiskey’s all in the world I crave
Good whiskey good whiskey’s all in the world I crave
I'm gonna drink good whiskey the rest of my doggone day

Hi all,
Thanks for starting this thread, Harry. I've been meaning to post this song for a while, but keep forgetting--it's "If The Rabbit Had A Gun", and it features Memphis Slim on piano in C, Willie Dixon on bass, and Matt "Guitar" Murphy on guitar. I believe the song is by Willie Dixon. Here is "If The Rabbit Had A Gun":

INTRO

Don't take advantage of me, baby, because I'm in love with you, someday one will come along, and break your heart in two
REFRAIN: A one-sided love, sure God, ain't no fun
You know, it wouldn't be so much huntin', if the rabbit had a gun

You always run around, stay out all night, but when I do the same thing, baby, you want to start a fight
REFRAIN: A one-sided affair, sure God, ain't no fun
You know, it wouldn't be so much huntin', if the rabbit had a gun (Spoken: Tell 'em about it, Guitar Murphy)

GUITAR SOLO

So let's call it quit, baby, you know it's better that way, because what you sow, you've gotta reap one day
REFRAIN: A one-sided affair, sure God, ain't no fun
It wouldn't be so much huntin', if the rabbit had a gun

OUTRO

All best,
Johnm

I See My Great Mistake (take 1)

Memphis Slim – Vocals, Piano
Leroy Batchelor - Bass

October 30, 1940
Chicago, Illinois

Piano in C

INTRO

I've got somethin' to tell you, baby, don't let it break your heart, so long together, now we've got to part
Because I'm tired, of fattening frogs for snakes
After these long many years, babe, I just see my great mistake

You told me that you loved me, say you loved me all your life, I caught you 'round the corner, tellin' that same lie twice
You know I'm tired, of fattening frogs for snakes
After these long many years, babe, I just see my great mistake

Once I used to love you, I couldn't help myself, found out you'd given your love, baby, to somebody else
You know I'm tired, of fattening frogs for snakes
After these long many years, babe, I just see my great mistake

SOLO (Spoken: Ain't gonna be your dog no more little girl, because now I see my great mistake)

Now listen little girl, you don't worry my mind any more, find out you're acting funny, I'm sure gonna let you go
Because I'm tired, of fattening frogs for snakes
After these long many years, I just see my great mistake
