Hawkeye Herman just posted this on the Blindman's Blues Forum, and I thought it would be worth of sharing:

Always fun to read lists like that, and there are some interesting picks.  ..now we can add the 'what about (fill in the name)'    ;D..Tom

so erm - is the William Brown track on there 53 minutes long?  there is some discussion of the various Will/Willie/William Browns here no-one mentions how unusual this is.

William Brown is who he is and is not any other of similar name: A left-handed guitarist that Alan Lomax met in Memphis (along with Willie "61" Blackwell). They were run out of town by the police and met up at Sadie Beck's plantation across the river in Arkansas. "Mississippi Blues" is one of the most beautiful recordings... ever!

thanks for the background story, Peter. I think i must have a corrupted mp3 of that track from the zip file that Pan linked to. It opens with different durations in different applications. iTunes says it is 53 minutes long!

It is indeed a lovely recording, and i wouldn't have spent so long trying to figure out what is up with it if it had been a lesser track.

I think it is meant to be about 6 minutes long.
