"You can't play no blues unless you have some hard times. Young people today, I don'y care whether they're black or white, they didn't come up like Muddy and me, they come up too easy" - Howlin' Wolf to Peter Guralnick, Feel Like Going Home.

Homer Harris Lyrics

Atomic Bomb Blues

Thomas was quite prognostic when he posted “41 Blues” a few days before the invasion of Ukraine;

War is ragin’ in Europe on the water, land and in the air
War is ragin’ in Europe on the water, land and in the air
Ooh, if Uncle Sam, he don’t be careful, we’ll all soon be right back over there

I stumbled on this song a few days ago.

There's not much information on Homer Harris, except he was born in Drew, Mississippi in 1916, and eventually moved to Chicago.
In 1946 he recorded three tracks for Columbia with Muddy Waters on guitar. Homer Harris would not record anything else afterwards, working odd jobs and opening small businesses in Chicago until his death in 2000.

Homer Harris - Vocals
James “Beale Street” Clark – Piano
Muddy Waters – Guitar
Ransom Knowling – Bass
Judge Riley – Drums

September 27, 1946
Chicago, Illinois

Piano in C

INTRO

It was early one mornin’, when all the good work was done
It was early one mornin’, when all the good work was done
And that big boat was loaded, with that awful atomic bomb

Wrote my baby, I were behind the risin' sun
Wrote my baby, I were behind the risin' sun
I told her, “Don't be uneasy, because I'm behind the atomic bomb”

Nation after nation, was here and far away
Nation after nation, was here and far away
Well, they soon got the news, and there, where they would stay

Over in Japan, you know, they laid down and cried
Over in Japan, you know, they laid down and cried
And poor Tojo (sic), had to find a place to hide

I'm Gonna Cut Your Head

Now with these 2 songs added I’ve posted the entire Homer Harris discography (he he).
Could use some help with some parts and the piano key (both songs).
Clark might be playing in F sharp. It’s a tough call (Could be G or F). I'm guessing G.

Homer Harris - Vocals
James “Beale Street” Clark – Piano
Muddy Waters – Guitar
Ransom Knowling – Bass
Judge Riley – Drums

September 27, 1946
Chicago, Illinois

Piano in G

INTRO

Well, I got something to tell you baby, want you to understand, I'm gonna get me another woman, you can get you another man
REFRAIN: But, oh baby, woman, you don't know like me
Well, I'm gon’ cut your head, mama, just as sure as one, two, three

Well, now you got a boyfriend, he living next door to you, you’s giving him my money, you know that will never do
REFRAIN: Oh baby, woman, you don't know like me
Well, I'm gon’ cut your head, mama, just as sure as one, two, three

Well, I give you my money, baby, every time I get my pay, you drinks it up in a tavern, you gives it all away
But, oh baby, woman, you don't know like me
Well, I'm gon’ cut your head, mama, just as sure as one, two, three

PIANO/GUITAR SOLO

Just give me another chance, baby, woman, just be your sweet name, I don't want you to think, baby, you put me out in the rain
But, oh baby, woman, you don't know like me
Well, I'm gon’ cut your head, mama, just as sure as one, two, three

Hi Blues Vintage,
Thanks for posting those. I think I may have a couple of the missing places. In "Tomorrow Will Be Too Late", I think the missing piece in 1.3 is

   . . . , WON'T BE ANY USE OF crying

In the last verse tagline, at the front end, I think it's

IT'S TIME TO TAKE YOU, tomorrow may be too late

All best,
Johnm

The last verse, I think he is singing
It's time to tell you, tomorrow might be too late.

That middle unknown line stumps me.

Yes indeed spooky!

I think the piano's in G, I love the raw sound of these recordings.

"I think in tomorrow will be too late" he sings:

Got my ticket in my hand, feels just like I want to ride
(Blues has got me) little Bernice is by my side

Agree with most of the suggestions for "Tomorrow" with just a couple of extra suggestions:

Won't be any use of crying – sounds good to me

Blues has got me – I think it's Blues HAVE got me

And I can't hesitate – sounds good

It's time to tell you – I think is LAST time to tell you,

Chris

Hi Blues Vintage,
I noticed that there was still a question mark in the first line of the third verse of "I'm Gonna Cut Your Head". Re-listening, I think it is:

Well, I give you my money, baby, every time I get my pay, YOU DRINKS IT UP IN A TAVERN, you gives it all away

All best,
Johnm
