This master of the country blues gigs tomorrow @One Longfellow Sq, Portland ME, 8pm. Also on the bill: Frank Fotusky, an up and coming player in the Piedmont tradition.

Well, as predicted, it was a great night of music. Paul dipped deep in his catalog, playing some tunes from earlier albums (Somethings got to be Arranged, Cocaine princess) and less well know gems (McTells Kill it kid rag, Blakes Wild about my 'Tootie, Lemon jefferson's Mosquito Moan). At the end of the night, he did a great white country blues, Frank Hutchinson's The Train that Carried my girl from Town, in open D/slide.

Frank did a Piedmont heavy set (Whinin Boy, That'll never happen No More), with a few nods to the Delta (Bo Carter's Country Fool, Robt Johnson's Me & the Devil).

Btw, One Longfellow Square was a nice venue. Good sound, tasty beer list.  J

Thanks for the report. One of the many things I like about Paul is how he always pulls stuff you haven't heard out of his hat.
