Monotonic Blues
« on: April 25, 2023, 04:00:05 AM »
Hi Folks,

Just wondered anyone could help. I am looking to help my students get into fingerpicking and am looking for some pieces that use a monotonic bass as in "Baby please don't go" Po Lightnin this has proved to be really popular and I would like some others before I get them started on alternating bass.

I think the lesson I gave has really inspired people to play there first montonic blues and they want more, but I don't have any !

Thanks in advance

A large number of Mance Lipscomb tunes. I once grabbed the attention of a private guitar student with Mance's version of "Motherless Child." Two others are "Silver City" and "Nighttime is the Right Time," which I learned as a beginner.

One I'd recommend with a super simple left hand is "Sue Cow" by Bo Carter.
