Hello everybody, it's Blue John (John Gregory) here. I have been an occasional visitor to this wonderful site over the years but this is my first post and I thought it may interest those of you based in the British Isles. Here is a media release!
ONE of the greatest fingerstyle guitarists in the world ? ARI EISINGER ? will be touring the British Isles in early October 2017.
Opportunities to see Ari in concert don?t happen nearly as often as fans would like. Known to music fans and guitarists across the globe, it is extremely rare for Ari, from Philadelphia, USA, to give concerts across the Atlantic ? in fact this will be his first full-length tour in this part of the world. Promoters and fans have a chance to be involved in this special event (see below).
Ari is a world-renowned performer of 1920s and 1930s country blues and ragtime guitar. His incredibly authentic approach has won acclaim worldwide and he has been described as ?sounding like four people playing at once?. (The Philadelphia Inquirer)
He has toured the United States, sharing the bill with some of the great names in the history of fingerpicking guitar ? Taj Mahal, Dave Van Ronk (an inspiration for the hit Coen Brothers film Inside Lllewyn Davis) and the legendary Doc Watson. He has also performed on stage with blues hero John Jackson.
Ari is known for his two superb solo albums You Don?t Understand and That Will Never Happen No More and for a hugely popular series of tuition DVDs for Stefan Grossman?s Guitar Workshop on the playing of blues legends Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller, Lonnie Johnson and Blind Lemon Jefferson.
He has also been an expert tutor at music camps on both sides of the Atlantic including Blues Week in the UK.
The British Isles tour ? Ari Eisinger solo in concert with special guests Dr Phil and Blue John ? is being promoted by Blue John Media. It will be looking for suitable venues and promoters to work with, as well as fans who may want to book Ari for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of having Ari give a house concert in their home!
Ari will be performing two 45-minute solo sets and each show will be opened by a 45 minute set by Blue John and Dr Phil.
Dr Phil (vocals/guitar/bass) is Dr Philip Ratcliffe, a name well known to country blues fans worldwide as he is the author of the acclaimed biography Mississippi John Hurt: His Life, His Times, His Blues. Dr Phil is also a radio broadcaster and a songster and musician in his own right ? specialising in the music of the Deep South ? and has opened for Georgia blues musician Kent Duchaine.
He will team up with Blue John (vocals/guitar), who is John Gregory, owner of Blue John Media. Blue John has previously opened shows for the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Martin Taylor, Nine Below Zero, Michael Messer, Marcus Bonfanti and many more, as well as selling out his own headline country blues guitar concerts. He is also an established guitar tutor.
Any promoters or fans who wish to enquire about booking Ari during his visit should contact John Gregory at bluejohnmedia@hotmail.co.uk Also see www.bluejohnmedia.com
