Charley Patton biography - by Dr. David Evans
3-part biography
David Evans wrote the blues history book Big Road Blues as well as the liner notes to "Screamin' and Hollerin' The Blues: The Worlds of Charley Patton".

Having already corrected Michael over at IGS, -G- I'll briefly point out that David co-wrote the liner notes for ther Revenant set with Ed Komara and Dick Spottswood (who I believe edited the project?). This appears to be the biography as it was published in the set. Certainly a boon to anyone who can't purchase the Revenant set or the Calt Bio.
All for now.

BTW, this site, ParamountsHome seems pretty interesting. It is dedicated to all the music that was recorded in Grafton at the Wisconsin Chair Factory. I noticed articles about Papa Charlie Jackson and Art Satherly. Cool.
All for now.

Stuart:
Thanks for the tip on this site. I read Alex van der Tuuk's book on Paramount and IMO it is an excellent local history. It appears that he is using the site to update and supplement his research on Paramount. I found the article about the proposed restaurant fascinating--if it goes through it will be interesting to see what the end result will actually be like. It's hard to imagine the "upscale" clientele dining with certain sides of the Paramount artists as background music. But hey, strange things happen in this world.

Thanks for the link to the biography. I just finished reading it and now I'm going to buy his recordings and listen to the stories with more of an understanding of what he was singing about. ;D
