I didn't like the way he sang. He was my brother, but he just had a way (Sings) 'Saddle up my pony, hook up my black maaaaare...' I didn't like that!... Now he picks good, but he just brings that song out, like there's somebody choking to death - Sam Chatmon on Charley Patton, from Giles Oakley's The Devil's Music, BBC

Read the thread title if in doubt whether on- or off topic.
Tangential discussion, please start another thread if you want to discuss. Brett Marvin has zip to do with anything here.

Surely a little logical deviation is allowed?  These things are called "threads" and as such don't necessarily have to go in a straight line, the way I see it. As Richard correctly points out, this is a minor diversion, hardly likely to develop into a completely new topic.

What a lot of hot air about nothing! It's not as if it's a significant thread about some deep aspect of the music we love being sidetracked. I'm off to play my guitar.

Here's Steve in his role as the U.S. Cultural Envoy to Bulgaria, helping out a Bulgarian bluegrass band.
