Nonsense is nonsense. But the history of nonsense is scholarship - Saul Lieberman to an audience at Jewish Theological Seminary, introducing a lecture on the Kabbalah by Gerhard Scholem, sometime in the 1940s. Quoted by Cynthia Ozick, "The Heretic," New Yorker, 9/2/2002, p. 145

I like it very much, sir. Great job. I used to play this song in open G.

Thanks chris,

The guitar is a cheapo 1970 Gibson LG12; got it from Ebay for $799!
Playing this song in my all wooden hallway makes it sound great ;)

Wonderful rendition, Carl.  You really capture the spirit of the song and the guitar playing is great.  I'm gonna go back and try to learn this tune!

Just an awesome version... your choice of recording spots lends an added quality of sadness to the song, those shadows dancing on the wall. Wonderful all around.

Thank DS, I had it in my head that BWJ was an open D man. However, this tuning was a new one on me in the lap blues world so I was intrigued, I'll give it a go tomorrow :)

Hi,

Here's some vintage Lonnie Johnson and Texas Alexander on a 10-string.

Yet another nice one, Carl.

Think you'll soon have to change your Weenie ID to something like "Prof. Prolific" the speed with which you're turning out the recordings - and you manage quality alongside quantity.

Hi,

Here's my version of a typical, vintage, Lonnie Johnson song.
I'm in drop G and removed a B-string and the octave G-string.
The fills are pretty much improvised and on loan from other Johnson songs.  It even got the "signature" lick (which one someone said - haha, I liked that)

Cheers,
Carl

Big Lonnie fan here, I liked your version very much. Love that loose rhythmic feel.

Hey Carl, can you play his instrumental "Playing With The Strings"?

Hi all,

Here's my lap slide arrangement of a Rovert Wilkins song - the first solo is Oscar Woods inspired.

Enjoy,
Carl

Hi Carl. Very nice lap slide playing and singing indeed.

But I think you need a taller hat ;D

Very enjoyable - thanks Carl.

Your performance is a real ray of sunshine in the face of all the Weenie Juke depression.

I'll second that. Also just to say that youtube content is enriched by having so many superb performances of our favourite music by DS. I've watched just about all of them and very fine they are! The background posters  and pics are good too!
