One day a man wearing a Western-style hat with a red bandanna around his neck walked into our store and announced that he was Jelly Roll Morton, the greatest stomp and blues piano player this side of New Orleans. Cassius Clay had nothing on Jelly Roll! - Lester Melrose, comparing Jelly roll Morton to a young (pre name change) Mohammed Ali

Didn't make it last year despite the desire to do so, but definitely in for 2014.

I have devised another quiz for our next meeting - hopefully easier than this year's offering, which was in turn meant to be easier than Blueshome's previous quiz. There is a specific theme and it will only take a short time to avoid boredom - unless everyone decides they cannot face the prospect of another quiz, of course.

Maybe the prospect of an exciting (?) quiz will entice more people to attend Euroweenie 2014 - even some from the European mainland or further afield...  :-\

Re: Euroweenie 2014 ROOM RATES

The South Lawns Hotel, Lymington Rd, Milford-on-Sea.   01590 643911 and mention the blues thing to confirm that room rate.[/b]

BTW, Since the "New" Forest is almost 1000 years old is Milford-on-the Sea really on the sea?

Ha ha, Scratchy - and Skip James carried his own piano!!

Mike S. - You'd better get down to Sway library and start revising now!

And Alex - why don't you come on over and find out?!

That was Big Maceo with Tampa on guitar.

Any way Richard, your main task next time is finding the Brick.

It would save a lot of heartache, Richard, if you just brought you own brick. See if you can find a "stunt double"!

I'm convinced the quiz will be easier next time, but then again I was wrong earlier this year. Anyway, I've gone to all the trouble of writing it (must have taken me all of 15 minutes), so you can all jolly-well put up with it!  >:(

VERY IMPORTANT ...

The hotel want us to change the weekend date to the weekend starting Fiday 4 April because they cannot afford to turn down a big wedding - I'm sure we all appreciate they do need the money especially as the place has suffered a bit in the floods, actually though that might improve the decor !!!

SO PLEASE can you confirm with the hotel your reservation for the new date and also make post here just so I know we are all on the same track.

Happy new year, if in England I hope you are not flooded and if in colonies I hope you are not too snowbound.

Any problems please send me a message.

OK, all booked up for new date. Have tried to get some playing friends interested as well. Will inform them of new dates and see if they can make it.

Cheers

New date OK for me - provided I can rid myself of this pesky sciatica by then, now in month 3!
