Belton was recorded by Alan Lomax in 1978 on Clyde Maxwell's porch and he only recorded three songs, but they were powerful. Two of the 3 were improvised and this song is one of them. I first ran across his videos a few weeks ago on You Tube in the Alan Lomax archives. While digging for more material I discovered there is a 30th anniversary DVD The Land Where the Blues began which has 3 hours of additional video footage. Othar Turner, Sam Chatmon, RL Burnside and several other more obscure players I had never heard of. I highly recommend snagging a copy of the DVD. There is a lot of Jack Owen material on the DVD and he was one of the best bluesman ever, barring none, imo.
