Title: London Weenies

I'm contemplating hopping the pond whilst I still have accommodations in London (old friend, big house). Any Weenies in London or nearby? Also what's the current scene for our type of music over yonder, clubs & such?

We're 25 miles out of London and often go in to play or watch.
www.bluesinlondon.com is probably the best source for what is on.
There is electric blues 7 nights a week at Ain't Nothin But just off Regent Street.
If you want play there is a good acoustic blues open mic at Round Midnight in Islington Monday and a session every 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Green Note Cafe, Camden.
Very few folk playing country blues as we know it though.

I'm in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. I disorganise a twice monthly acoustic blues session (http://sheffieldblues.co.uk/). We're kind of aiming for a pre-war aesthetic. Guitars, ukuleles, washboards, musical saw, mandolin etc. all are welcome.
You're welcome to use either the double or single. or both, spare "beds."
The North is way better than That London, although maybe not in terms of "cultural" stuff. But, as far as I know, this is the only acoustic blues session/jam/workshop is the only one in the Yorkshire area. We have a great little room in the pub, which is just right for a small CB ensemble.
Hopefully, in the next week or so, I'll bring the tea-chest bass (tub, I think you colonials call it) there, the landlord says we can store it there.

As a Yorkshireman living in exile I can recommend it. Sheffield is a fine city - and apparently it has more trees than people.

It's not easy getting acoustic gigs over here and especially as venues will not book acts they've never heard of (and believe me, their knowledge is extremely limited!).

Cambridge (60 miles north of London) has an active `Blues Jam` group but most of it is electric blues played on what ever instruments are around ,harp, Dobro,quills,kitchen sink, but there is often an electric bass and sometimes a snare and high-hat, but these is always space for a solo spot.

Just in the feasibility study phase at the moment, but appreciate all the feedback. Haven't been since 1980. I imagine its a very different place now.
I spent almost every day of my week's stay in the National Gallery, greatest art museum on the planet!

You could always try a visit to Norwich. My band rehearse and play reasonably often. Be good to have a guest to share an evening or two.

In June, but I don't know if I'm gonna stay there or moving away...I just have to throw a look, although I have some friends there yet...
