'Blues Traveling' third edition is out
« on: September 26, 2008, 02:39:49 PM »
Hey All -- I got a surprise package in the mail the other day -- some hot-off-the-presses copies of the updated third edition of my Blues Traveling: the Holy Sites of Delta Blues. Yes, I knew it was coming out but the publisher (University Press of Mississippi) had said by January, so this is really early. Just in time for King Biscuit if you're going down there. Of course it makes good reading or good gift-giving too. The new cover features T-Model Ford, with electric guitar and big amp out in his back yard. Also a bunch of new photos inside, from my monthlong research trip, and new places to visit, some places removed (boo hoo -- hate to see any hallowed spot vanish but fortunately I did find some new ones to replace them), some directions and comments updated, etc. If you already have an earlier edition you might not need the new one, unless you're planning a trip to the Delta or if you're a completist collector. Look for it at your local bookstore or online vendor, or contact me if you want a signed copy or with any comments or questions. Cheers and happy trails, SC
