All I hope for in life is to have one good idea that last me until I die. And if that one runs out, to have another one - Mark Graham, on musical creativity

Well thanks for drawing my attention to the Nicholas Bros., Eric. I googled and reading their life story on Wikipedia was very interesting. Their parents were college educated and moved north to escape racism, eventually both taking jobs in the pit orchestra of a vaudeville theatre in Philly. Both brother's sat at the edge of the stage virtually every night as they grew up. The elder (by 7 years) copied everything he saw and created his own style, which his brother then learned. There are many youtube vids of them into the 80s or so.
What really knocks me out about the Lindy Hoppers, besides their sheer speed and daring, is how close the camera is to the action. You can see the sweat rolling down their cheeks. Wax The Nicholas Brothers are great, especially to Jumpin' Jive. great track. And it's always a pleasure to see Slim and Slam. Slim Gaillard's intro to the lindy hoppers is class!
