I want to let you know that some snakes have been seen in the Roundyard neighborhood. The grass has grown up around the sidewalk and the snakes has been seen, looking for water - Early Wright, obituary to the DJ, WROX Clarksdale

Do me a favor guys - try to make your subject headings descriptive, maybe something like "Charley Patton Photo?" or "Skip James pre-war photo" or something.  With the bazillion topics we are accumlating - it will be a help.  ;)

Thanks,

I believe that this picture was part of the Paramount advertising material that was "rescued" by a couple of reporters when it was being discarded by a Wisconsin newspaper.  This "rescue" might have taken place in the 1970s, my memory is hazy on the timeline here.  In the late 1990s this material was purchased by John Tefteller and started to become publicly available.  The first time I saw this picture was in Tefteller's 2004 Blues Images calendar.

Click on the link to read my interview with Fred Bolden, Skip James' cousin. You'll find a big version of the photo there. It's owned by Richard Nevins. It was taken c. 1932, just before Skip vanished.
