It was along about that time that Blind Lemon Jefferson came through, and he stayed around there about a month. He stayed with the other colored fellows and they worked on the railroad there; he'd just sing and play to entertain the men in the work camp. I think that right about there I started on the guitar - Hobart Smith recalls Lemon in Virginia, c. WWI, from Blacks, Whites and Blues by Tony Russell
Hi all, We have no volunteers currently scheduled to select the Song of the Month for July--December this year. Any takers? The initial post may be, but certainly is not required or expected to be learned, (it may be brief) and should post only enough versions of the song to get the ball rolling, leaving other versions for other people to find and post. It would be nice if we could get several of the remaining months in 2019 lined up, so that I don't have to keep posting these pleas for volunteers. Thanks to the hearty volunteers! I will take July to get us a little wiggle room. All best, Johnm

Sorry I'm a bit late with my September offering. We're kinda busy here getting everything set for the fall and winter. I should be able to post within the next week though. In the meantime if anyone wants to jump in and post one for September, have at it!
It doesn't appear anyone has previously taken it, Rivers, so unless someone else offers to take it today or tomorrow, why don't you take it? Thanks! All best, Johnm
It would take me a while to put something worthwhile together and I need some time off so I'm going to suggest we take our first collective month break from SOTM
