I found out that Bob Guida passed away last night, packing up from a gig.
He got two wings. RIP, Bob.

Sad news indeed. But that video is a fine memorial. Thanks for posting it.
That's very sad news indeed. Let's Go to Hunting, the Return of the Otis Brothers has been a favorite of mine since I got it. Condolences to Bob's family and all of his friends.
There's a one hour interview with Bob Guida and Pat Conte here: http://www.downhomeradioshow.com/2008/02/interview-with-the-otis-brothers/ At the same site, a live Otis Brothers concert from Banjo Jim's: http://www.downhomeradioshow.com/liverecordings/OtisBros9June07BanjoJims.mp3 I never got to meet Bob, but he sure seems like a guy with a good sense of humour, judging from the above recordings. "I'd just like to thank whoever left this guitar in the garbage for Pat to find." - Bob Guida, tuning Pat Conte's guitar at Banjo Jim's A link to the Roots of the Otis Brothers show on DHR: http://www.downhomeradioshow.com/2008/02/roots-of-the-otis-brothers/ Cleoma
This is terrible news. I never got to meet Bob either but I have admired the Otis Brothers for more years than I can remember.
Suzy This is a shock! Condolences to Bob's family.
I met Bob hanging out w/ the Retrofret crew, of which he was a part. He could light up a room! And half the fun of going to a guitar show was to see which 'under a $100 guitar' Bob would buy at the show, and then belt out blues songs on it the entire weekend, with his powerful voice heard even above the din of the electric wankers..what a blast! He had a great love of the music, and will be missed..Tom I never met Bob but very much enjoyed the music he and Pat Conte made together. My condolences to his family and friends.
All best, Johnm This was posted on http://steelbrassnwood.livejournal.com/179732.html
Quote Bob Guida, the great blues guitarist and singer, a jovial and powerful presence in the Brooklyn music scene for decades, died last night. Shlomo Pestcoe posted the following announcement to the NY bluegrass and old-time list: Mrs. Bob Toohey
My husband, son and I were saddened by Bob Guida's passing. I've never met him but the stories my husband Bob told me I would have loved to. I want to send our sincerest sympathies to his wife and family. God Bless them all.
There's another nice long remembrance of Bob by a friend here:

Just heard about this. Sad news, I last saw the Otis Bros. a couple months ago, a rare electric set. RIP.
