I thought you guys might enjoy seeing what's coming off my workbench. It is a Gibson L-0 reproduction, I am calling it "The Blues Town"

Nice, that could work. I love all mahogany guitars and don't have one yet. The stripy maple binding looks great, reminds me of my Guild.
Thanks Rivers, the maple does show a little flame in that picture, but it isn't flamed in person. I wanted to do a "straight" binding this time. The back mahogany does have a little flame in it. Going to string it up tomorrow.

Looks real nice Dave. What's the finish, French polish, varnish? Do tell.
T Hi Todd, thanks for commenting.
It is a french polish, kusmi seedlac with about 30% australian sandarac. The seedlac is orange, and the guitar has a "pumpkin" color, like the '30 Gibson L-0 that I was copying. It's strung up and playing now, my first all-mahogany guitar. Very crisp and open right away, bodes well for the future. Wish I had some recording stuff, I'd love for you all to listen in. Man that is just about the guitar of my dreams...NICE work....I would love to have you make a guitar for me some day! Blue Jim,
Yes, I've done a 12 fret version, a slight shifting of the bracing pattern. This is the basic Gibson L-00 pattern, they did lots of styles from the top of the line "Nick Lucas Special" (I'm doing one of those now) with 13 frets to the body, to the lowly L-0 and L-00, with the little bit fancier L-1 in between. Their catalog of the time states that they all came with the 14 fret neck, but all the pictures in the catalog show 12 frets. This is my all-time favorite guitar. Pages: [1] Go Up
