Run Mollie Run
« on: February 05, 2011, 09:53:39 PM »
Me and Devin Champlin (Gallus Brothers, Crow Quill Night Owls) messin' around with "Run Mollie Run". We played this together for the first time just about a half hour before we made this recording. Everything else is Evan Williams' fault....

Forgot to mention.... This is the same Mandolinetto that Devin's got up on the garage sale.

Here's raising one to you and Devlin!
Sure sounds like a good time well spent.

Thanks,
Joe

And I love the sound of that mandolinetto!

Much thanks folks!  Playing/hanging with Devin is always a blast.  Got some good tips on repairing some of my beater guitars too!  And now I know who's gonna build my next guitar (hopefully next year...).

Great job guys!

I've sometimes wondered if I should try Run Mollie, but I've never quite known how to approach it. Maybe I'll give it a second thought, thanks for the inspiration.

Cheers

That's really nice, Mike.  You and Devin sound good there, and your singing sounds fine.
All best,

Many thanks, my friends!  Go for it, Pan!  You'll tear it up, I'm sure!  Obviously I'm not playing anything close to what Henry Thomas was playing, but I tried to stick pretty close to the melody.  As usual, everything fits really nicely into C position (one quick IV chord at the end).  My arrangement gets a little repetitive on its own, but Devin balances things out perfectly.
@Michael Cardenas...  I do appreciate your enthusiasm, but just so ya know....  Homesick is a thing of the past.  Long story that I'll just sum up with: "If it don't fit, don't force it".   It was a good introduction to playing out, but now I'm starting over.  We shall see...
