Topic: Searchin for Barbecue Bob

Hello everybody !

My name is Th?o, I'm blues fan from France,

I'm doing some research on Robert Hicks aka "Barbecue Bob", because I would like to do a radio programm on his life and music.

I would like to find more information than what I could find on the Internet.

For example : the Tidwell's restaurant (where he used to work) does it still exist ?

If anybody know a "specialist" of Barbecue Bob I would be really glad to talk to him.

I'm really sorry for my bad english and I really hope I could find some help here !

It had been said to me by those who were there in the day that Savannah "Dip" Weaver taught both her son Curley, and the Hicks brothers to play guitar. Curley's approach to that instrument changed after he left Newton County to go to Atlanta (where he met McTell, a.o.).

          Bruce Bastin's book RED RIVER BLUES from The University of Illinois Press, 1995 in paperback, is still the bible for information on blues from the southeastern states. Also, there is my piece in BLUES UNLIMITED -  ?Some Cold, Rainy Day ? part 5: Robert and Charlie Hicks? ?  Blues Unlimited No. 103,      p. 15 (1973) Sussex, UK. Long out-of-print, but worthy!
