Frankie is one of the best vocal & guitar pieces ever, probably the best guitar recording ever. Rumor (i.e. Spottswood) has it that when this piece was played for Segovia, he couldn't believe there were not two guitars at work - John Fahey, on John Hurt

Nathan James - She's Making Whoopee In Hell Tonight A fine version of Bo Carter's "Biscuits", with some intricate washboard sounds on top

I did a search of the Weenie site to see if this was already posted, couldn't find anything, tell me if you know otherwise.
For me the main feature of this vid is the first act, a very young Cephas playing next to a very young Wiggins, but there are two other faces familiar to Port Townsend workshop attendees -- Lurie Bell and Louisiana Red. Also Sunnyland Slim and Hubert Sumlin are on the roster. Great blues: lindy
This one is not a video or film clip, just a photograph, but a great one -- Rufe with Peg Leg Sam, taken by Peter Lowry:
A little bit of biographical info below the youtube photo. Hi all,
Anybody listened to this lately--"Stop Your Rambling", by Clifford Gibson? Whew! This could fairly be put in the "possibly equalled, but never surpassed" category for playing in Spanish; of course, that also depends on your personal taste. All best, Johnm Hi John:
Thanks for the post and the reminder. The last time I listened to the song was probably the last time I listened to the Yazoo LP (1027) devoted to his songs. It's been years and this is a reminder it's time for a revisit. It looks like it's available on YouTube as a playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nxTBLaEs51FTJzjPuayRDFks2fp_eWrXg Hi all,
I just found this excerpt of a concert performance by Elester Anderson, a North Carolina musician, at Chapel Hill in 1973. I believe Lightnin' was in attendance at the show. All best, Johnm Lignite
Thanks for sharing this John. Yes, a younger me did attend this concert which this is only a portion of. Elester was from Tarboro, N.C. which is about 25 miles from my present home. I briefly got to meet him one time and play with him a little after a folk festival in Durham, N.C. Unfortunately he died in 1980. I later got to know and play with his musical partner George Higgs on many occasions who also was from Tarboro. He was a wonderful harmonica player and guitarist with a wide repertoire of Piedmont blues and related music. Supposedly Elester and George Higgs recorded an album's worth of material for Pete Lowry of Trix Records during the early 1970s which never saw the light of day and I have still been unable to hear. This great cut by Elester was featured on Eight-Hand Sets And Holy Steps: Early Dance Tunes And Songs Of Praise From North Carolina's Black Tradition which consisted of field recordings by Glenn Hinson and released in 1978; https://youtu.be/We3WLM4NhB0?si=Whh1t8yQZVaklD4r

^No that I know and it's pity. Athough there seems to be one song from every artist in Jools Hollands annual hootenanny.

Muireann Bradley was in Highland Radio's Monday night sessions three weeks ago and it's in . Among interwiew she plays Candyman and Richland (wo)man. I guess this interwiew made her famous.
From Monday night sessions there is Muireanns great version of Police dog blues in Highland Radio's Facebook page. If you are in Facebook, I recommend check it. It was in Muireanns Facebook page, but her Facebookpage has changed couple of days ago.
