I noticed that Arhoolie has some new and pretty exciting records coming based on a facebook post from Down Home Music. The post was promoting a disc of recordings made by Harry Oster of ukulele player Lemon Nash (new to me). Then a disc of recordings by the Scottdale String Band made in the 20s and 30s (rejoice, mandolin players), notes by Tony Russell.
Last but not least was this sentence: "Unreleased, previously lost recordings from Smoky Babe is in the pipeline."
I was just saying a few days ago in the Oster thread, wouldn't it be nice to see the unreleased Smoky Babe come out.
So, in case any blues deities are listening and granting wishes, I will just say, wouldn't it be cool to have some lost Cat Iron recordings. That would be alright with me.
According to some discographies, Smoky Babe is believed to be the backing guitarist on the early Black Ace recordings. Anyone knows the source of that assumption???
I think I read 29th of July somewhere, but don't remember where it was. I had a rather intense e-mail Exchange with Arhoolie concerning the Lemon Nash Vinyl which is available now. The Smoky Baby Vinyl release date might have been mentioned in one of those emails, but I haven't kept all those mails so can't verify.
