All Stefan requires now is for the Cohn-DeSilva enterprise to come to fruition to make his discography complete. Being a cynic I'd say it won't be long in coming - the Gray book is published so no fear of any of their research being used by him.
Not sure where to put this with the multiple McTell threads but here's a link to my website which has some commentary about the newly issued McTell track: http://sundayblues.org/
Great site jharris, am enjoying the articles . . . & thanks for the BWM & M Willis mp3, very much enjoyed that song (reminding me of Blake's 'Georgia Bound', Patton's 'Tom Rushen/'High Sheriff', R. Johnson's 'Four 'til Late) & am very happy BWM has a vocal imput on this one as some of the tracks featuring Mary can be, well, too much Mary! Still can't believe the Desilva box set put two of her tracks on the 45 record they're offering instead of stronger BWM solo songs . . . maybe that's something they'll reconsider before officially releasing it . . . & I'm very much enjoying Mr. Wirz's discography, great work as per usual . . .

torturing through all these BWMcT compilations leaves me with one big question: Who on earth is supposed to buy all those 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6- and more CD box sets existing ?!? Stefan
. . . jharris: don't have 'Man of my Own', would like to hear it . . . still pretty much like Mary altho' a little grating & why give her primetime on a BWMcTell box? Who will buy all those boxes Stefan? Don't know, not me, Desilva box is off my radar . . . but perusing your page I came across this monster coming out this month <AHREF="http://www.amazon.com/Georgia-Blues-Blind-Willie-McTell/dp/B000QXDHHE/ref=sr_1_17/104-2325145-4386356?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1186344422&sr=1-17 I mean for $23.00 what is a person to do?!! & it looks like it has some items I don't immediately see on either Stefan's discography or on some of the CDs I've just ordered, namely 'Teasing Brown' & 'This is Not the Stove . . .' with Harris & Harris on vocal so I'm assuming BWMcTell on guitar acc.? What is Snapper's deal anyway? How can they release this much music for that price? I mean they are undercutting JSP for god sakes! Are their transfers any good? & they seem to be just starting a new series:

17 years ago the Harris numbers were on the first volume in Document's complete BWMcT and accounted for in Stefan's ('f" not "ph") listing of that CD. Haven't played them for years but from memory both are in the style and manner of Butterbeans & Susie.
With one important difference ... they are terrible.
You can say that again. Very sub, sub, sub standard attempt at B & S that fails miserably. Nobody should lose too much sleep at not having those two songs in their collection - regardless of the prescence of BWMcT!
Does anyone here know anything about Snapper's transfer/remastering processes? A 6-CD box set at about $25.00 is a little scary for several reasons . . .
Just something Stefan might wish to add to his BWM discography. Rhino Handmade have just released a 4 cd set called "Atlantic Blues 1949-1970" which features two Mctell tracks he recorded for Ahmet Ertegun: THE RAZOR BALL and LAST DIME BLUES.
Hey Bchris & Bunker, just heard the Harris & Harris tunes with Blind Willie . . . I actually quite like them . . . but then again I think Al Jolson is the Man, so . . . & apologies on the spelling of Stefan's name, I have several friends that spell it with the 'ph', habit . . .
FWIW I recently bought a bunch of BWMcTell cds & boxes & now have a lot of doubled material on my hands . . . Although Snapper's new 6 Cd box set has standard liner notes & kinda annoying 'period' photos in the booklet (they apparently only got the rights to one Blind Willie photo) & on the cd slip cases (altho pretty attractive) it contains a whole lotta music for very little money (I payed less than $30.00 Canadian) & I've come to find that it contains ALL the music that is found on JSP's 1927-1940 box, Columbia's 'Definitive' 2 Cd set (which has some tunes JSP doesn't have) & all the songs found on 'Pig & Whistle Red' PLUS an alternate take of 'Broke Down Engine No.2', 4-5 great Curley Weaver tracks from a '35 session with BWMcTell on 2nd guitar (I believe) & some extra tracks from the 'Pig & Whistle' sessions . . . meaning it is complete Willie (as far as I know) up to 1949/50 . . . 'Atlanta 12 String' & 'Last Sessions' & the 2 newly discovered songs on the 2008 Tefteller Calendar would round out his complete works . . . The Snapper has full discographal notes & the sound is good to my ears altho' I may recall some skipping on certain songs in my half-drunken sleepy listenings, will have to relisten & report back
Relistening to the first CD of the set today confirmed that there are some glitches in at least my copy of the Snapper box set . . . There are no marks on the Cd but several of the songs have sudden loud, non-source static & 'Talkin' To Myself' & 'Razor Ball' even skip at one point each . . . the kind of noises I've heard on cheap Cds before . . . luckily, i have several copies of the glitchy songs so it's not the end of the world but buyer beware perhaps . . . Anybody else here bought this set & noticed these glitches? Still, a really cheap set & closer inspection shows that the set was compiled by Paul Swinton & Russell Beecher . . .

Beecher was one of the original owners of the Catfish enterprise.
I bought this set and the tracks are misaligned on discs 5 & 6 and so won't import into iTunes. I e-mailed them complaining about this a received an automated out-of-office reply suggesting two other people to ask. I forwarded it and failed to get a reply. So Snapper Music no longer exists for me.
