  • Howdy!
Greetings weenies!
I am excited to announce that a third Todalo Shakers CD, called ?Rock Away My Blues?, is forthcoming!!  We?ll have them in time for our March tour in Northern California.

I'm really proud of this recording, it?s the best one I've done in a long time.  Every member of the band is really playing and singing at the top of their game, the arrangements are wonderful, and the material is great ? lots of old blues, jug band songs, hillbilly rags, but also some unusual things too ? a great ragtime piece written by WB Reid and arranged for the band ? a Lotus Dickey song with a klezmer-Greek twist ? Kid Ory?s Creole Trombone transformed into a showpiece for Matt Weiner?s astonishing bass playing.

For those not familiar with the Todalo Shakers, it's Eric & Suzy Thompson, Frannie Leopold, WB Reid and Matt Weiner and we've been playing together for 20 years. We live in Berkeley CA, WB and Matt live in Seattle, and Frannie lives in Mendocino, so we don't often have the opportunity to play together -- but whenever we do, there is much joy and laughter as well as a ton of great music of the jug band and ragtime variety (sometimes veering into other territory!)

We?re doing a Kickstarter campaign to help pay for the CD project and YOU can help by pre- ordering your copy of the CD.  For those supporting this project at a higher level, we have a bunch of cool rewards ranging from CD collections to concert tickets (including tickets to the shows on our upcoming March 2019 tour in Northern California)  to a personalized  musical recording for your answering machine to the Todalo Shakers playing music at your house party!
