I thought, 'I'm gonna get me up a one man band.' ... I decided I'd get into it and might make me some money. I didn't know, I thought I might get lucky enough to get something out of it. If I didn't, I'd just be the same old Jesse. I wouldn't cry about it. I figured I was gonna live till I die anyway - Jesse Fuller

It's a Tamborine Guitar Banjo
« on: June 09, 2013, 04:17:34 PM »
Hi,
I just put this together.
I've had the idea for quite some months now and just got around to actually DOING it 2 days ago.

since i ain't very tech savy,I'll do this...

I had a $5 yard sale special "wall-hanger" 6 string flattop layin' 'round & got a $7  8" tamborine, cut an 8" hole in the guitar soundboard, inserted the Tam. Industrial hotglued the seam. & reenforced the body and added 4 used/saved strings.

I have NEVER played or played with a banjo but have WANTED to for about a yr now. Saw Lotsa websites where folks have converted taborines into banjos,
Never rilly have the funds to get one,so THIS was the route to go,so i dreamed it up & now...Here It Is

That's highly innovative.
How does it sound/play?

Thank You.
I dunno about  the "highly innovative" part though.
But still, Thank You none the less.
Well, the fretboard on that "yard sale special" could be just a tad better but it's definately playable, fer sure.
Sound ? Just like it should ... a banjo. Nice sharp & clear sound.
Pity I do not have a way to up up a sound clip.
It's just to fiddle with as I've Never play with a banjo before....so this is gona be FUN !
But then again...that's Why I did it,fer the FUN of it

Very groovy!
