« on: March 24, 2012, 11:06:14 PM »
Hi all,
For those of you who might be interested, I returned home from to Seattle today to find that my new book, "John Miller's Country Blues Guitar Collection" had arrived.  It is published by Mel Bay as part of the Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop series.  The book contains transcriptions for the following songs from the artists indicated:
Mississippi John Hurt
1.Stack O'Lee
2.Blessed Be The Name
3.Big Leg Blues
Ed Bell
4.Mean Conductor Blues
Furry Lewis
5.I Will Turn Your Money Green
6.Big Chief Blues
Memphis Minnie
7.Reachin' Pete
Tom Dickson
8.Happy Blues
Robert Wilkins
9.I Do Blues
10.I'll Go With Her
Julius Daniel
11.99 Year Blues
Blind Blake
12.Doin' A Stretch
Luke Jordan
13.Church Bells Blues
Buddy Moss
14.New Lovin' Blues
15.Insane Blues
Geeshie Wiley
16.Eagle's On A Half
Tommy Johnson
17.Slidin' Delta
Walter Vinson
18.Overtime Blues
Bo Carter
19.My Baby
20.Cigarette Blues
21.Your Biscuits Are Big Enough For Me
22.Policy Blues
Otis Harris
23.You Like My Lovin'
Lil' Son Jackson
24.Groundhog Blues
In addition, the book includes a disc that contains all of the original performances, as well as lyrics for all of the songs, playing tips for each song, and a lyric reference that shows where the words of the first verse of each song fall relative to its accompaniment.  The book has a list price of $26.99, and you can find out more about it by going to www.melbay.com, or www.guitarvideos.com in the near future.  I think and hope that the book will be helpful for folks who like to learn the music that way.  Thanks for your time.
All best,
Johnm

Hi John:

Thanks for the info re: your new book. What's the ISBN? And are you going to be offering it directly, either through your site or by mail?

It contains a nice cross section of material and I'm sure that it will be well received by those of us who understand that it is an external record and source of information about the original performances.

I guess that early (self-)ear training has finally paid off!  ;D

As Always,

Stuart

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for your message.  It looks like the ISBN number on the back of the book is:  978-078668391-8.  I do have some for sale now, which for the time being I think I will offer for sale at shows or Music Camps at which I'm teaching.
All best,
Johnm
