I'm pretty sure Lemon's was '26 and Sleepy John's was in '27. Don't know if Lemon was the first tho.

Uh, that'd be WILLIAM Brown, recorded by Alan Lomax and John Work as late as '42, and he was definitely covering the Jab Jones piano and Yank Rachel mando accompaniment of the earlier Sleepy John version. And doin' a fine job of it, needless to say.
