Jesse Wadley - Alabama Prison Blues
« on: February 12, 2016, 11:27:00 AM »
From Document Records; Field recordings Vol.2: North & South Carolina, Georgia, Tenessee, Arkansas, we can find this song, by Jesse Wadley - Alabama Prison Blues, I always liked this melancholic tune, it reminds me of  Frank Stokes "I'm Goin' Away", or Robert Johnson's "From four till' late", Dupree Blues, etc...

I don't have much Idea of what's goin on with the lyrics so there's a lot of "???" but I'm gonna start from what I have:

Alabama Prison Blues
(Jesse Wadley)

...come and see me, when I had so long
you wouldn?t come and see me, baby when I had so long
lord if you won?t come and see me, please count the days I?m gone

Just...burden..butter?..rocks??? easy..???

You can't have no mercy here?

Mr Willie conduct me...???
Mr Willie conduct me...???
I will hung my head and cry like a baby child

Rocks in my pillow, cold ground is my bed
Rocks in my pillow, cold ground is my bed
says I want lil???..  to hold my worry head

i'll make out a bed and shine like the mornin' star?
I'll make out a bed and shine like the mornin' star?
and when I'll get in it, ride like a trolley car

He's a low down farmer, dirty engineer
He's a low down farmer, dirty engineer
they will take my woman and left me standin' here?

I pray to god and prayin..??
I pray to god and pray...??
don't hurt my baby but..???
