Going away Blues

I've had this song stuck in my head for DAYS! I wish I had someone to duet it with.

Absolutely lovely! Thanks for posting!

If you have the possibility to go, you could perhaps find a duet partner at the Euroweenie gathering? Or perhaps some technically less challenged forum members could duet with you through the internet? Just a thought.

Cheers

Thanks a lot Pan! As always I'd love to get to Euroweenie but i think it's going to be impossible this year.

Fantastic vocal; clean and strong.  You've really found a great singing voice.

That guitar sings as well- I might have to try mine with picks rather than bare fingers.

Not quite the same as a real duet I know, but you could always find a weenie who could record their own part to your recording, and combine them.

I tried it with resident weenie harp player blueingreen a while back, and it worked out okay.

Boy, what a strong job you did, Laura!  I love those big, loud brushed upbeats you're getting and you pitched the song in such a big bright part of your range--you pop the first note of each verse so well.  It's like Jimmy Martin said, "When you got a voice, sing in the tone", it seems like you're really singing in a part of your range where you can push and it sounds and feels good.
All best,
Johnm

Thanks everyone for the comments!  Simon, I never intended to use picks with the Martin but it's really suited to the sweet tone I think.  Using them is also making me turn up the volume on my singing.  That's an interesting idea you have about combining recordings..are you consenting to being my guinea pig? :)

John thank you for your comment.  The lesson you did for me for "Frankie and Albert" some time ago really helped with this - he seems to have those big brush strokes in lots of his songs.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Gave me the frickin' shivers! :D

I always thought you had a voice that could cut glass if you pushed it and I'm very glad to see I was correct, good on ya mate.

Reading the latest comments caused me to play your video again - and I rarely watch these right through more than once. For me this is one of the most enjoyable performances on Weenie - ever! I love it and might stick it on my Facebook page...

Edit: It's on my FB page and getting a few "Likes" - and so it should!

Rivers got it just right. :)

As for electronic collaboration, I'm happy to give it a go though I'm far from a competent duetist (if thats a word)!

It can be done with plain recordings quite easily.

Could probably also be done with video- I've seen people do split screen accompaniments and such on YT, though I'd have to figure out some free software to do it with.
