This isn't exactly country blues, nor is my approach to it. Maybe some of you'll enjoy it anyway. I hesitated between posting to "performance corner" and "other musical interests" myself, so if moderators want to move it, please do so.

Nice Pan, such a beautiful melody. I've become more and more interested in the "concert spiritual" repertoire in the past several years. Love listening to Paul Robeson & Marion Anderson etc. Been messing with a version of Josha fit the battle of Jericho myself on and off.

Nice arrangement, Pan. I like the straight up and down time, sort of Faheyesque.

(Seems like a good place to put it in terms of the boards given you're sharing your own stuff, not discussing other musical interests.)

That's a really nice arrangement, Pan!  Beautiful counterpoint, and neat registration, too, showcasing the lower end of the guitar.

Hi all,
For any of you who enjoy beautifully done renditions of spirituals, there was a great CD put out around the mid-90s, a duo of Charlie Haden on bass and the late Hank Jones on piano, called "Steal Away", on Verve, the program of which, apart from a couple of originals, is all spirituals.  It is a terrific CD I would recommend very highly.  I'm pretty sure you'd get a kick out of it, Pan.

This reminded me that I have an Archie Shepp and Horace Parlan record called "Going Home", with their versions of the spirituals. I had completely forgotten about it! I'll have to check their version of the tune as well!
They made a (jazz-)blues album called "Trouble in Mind" which I have and like too.
