Blind Lemon Jefferson lyrics

uncle bud:
Yes, I think I'm hearing it this way as well, through somewhat limited technology at the moment. The school/rule imagery pops up as well when Lemon sings about taking pigmeat to Sunday School in Chock House Blues.

sandmountainslim:
Online I find the lyric transcribed as "Lemon, get me a taxi to take me away from here
Lemon, get me a taxi to take me all away from here
I haven't had a good friend in this world, since they lead Lemon to the electric chair."
But what I HEAR when listening to the song is "Lemon, get me a taxi to take me away from here
Lemon, get me a taxi to take me all away from here
I only have one friend in the world fixin' to be murdered in the 'lectric chair.

I am pretty sure I am hearing it right.   Thoughts?

Dr Pryor:
I'm gonna shake hands with my partner and ask him how come he's here
I'm gonna shake hands with my partner and ask him how come he's here
I had a wreck with my family, they going to send me to the 'lectric chair?

Hi all,

Can you please explain what "to have a wreck with" means? Did he had a fight with his familiy? Is he responsible for an accident that killed his family?

Best regards

banjochris:
I think in this case it means a fight, but more serious than just a fight. I don't think it literally means a car accident.
Chris
