Spectacular!

(I really need to get some new glasses. I first read the title of your post as "Rev. James Thompson at Dusty Strings")

Yeah, me too!!  Maybe that would be a good name for our trio!  Really looking forward to playing with Del Rey and Steve James at Dusty Strings, that's on Sat. Feb. 3.  Our show actually sold out last year, so probably best to buy tickets in advance.

Del and I will be playing at Abbie Weisenbloom's house concert in Portland on Fri. FEb. 2, and we'll be at the YWCA in Bellingham on Sun. Feb. 4 (I think that is an afternoon show.

Always a great pleasure to make music with Del Rey and Steve James!

My thoughts exactly! Not sure the heavily gospel crowd would fully appreciate the repertoire though...

If it's anything like their show last year, it's not to be missed.

It was a great show last night. Everyone was in fine form. And I should say that Matt Weiner (who was not mentioned in this thread) played bass and tied everything together. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Amen, Stu. Great venue--single mic for vocals, otherwise all-acoustic. Love the way Suzy belts out Bessie Smith tunes. Thanks for twisting my arm to buy the Thompsonia CD.

We had a great weekend of music, and you're right, Matt Weiner's bass playing is the secret ingredient - he makes everything sound better!  Del and Steve and I went to Il Bistro in Seattle (near Pike Place Market) on Tues. night to hear Matt play with Jacob Zimmerman. It was spectacular!!! Just beautiful straight-ahead jazz music.  If you are in Seattle and it's Tues. night, you want to be there.  They play from 9 til (I think) 11.  Good drinks and food and they will even make you a special non-alcoholic cocktail if you are a non-drinker.

Yeah, Jacob's talents are no secret in these parts. He plays with Del and Matt, not to mention with Ray Skjelbred, as well as in various other configurations.  Here are several links:

(Check out the April 15 show--great venue.)
