Who was Lemon's pianist?
« on: April 06, 2009, 05:28:11 PM »
Hi all.

I wonder if anyone knows who played the piano part on Lemon's 1928 cover of the Leroy Carr song "How Long How Long"?
The liner notes of my JSP set make no mention of the pianist.

Thanks

Pan

The fourth edition of B&GR has the piano played by "unknown".

I always thought it was Lemon on piano, with Blind Blake on guitar imitating Lemon's style.  :D

I dunno, haven't listened but we had a good thrash at Lemon's other piano recordings here: http://weeniecampbell.com/yabbse/index.php?amp;Itemid=128&topic=3366.0

I blushed when I read my stern comments about 'disseminating duff gen on the internet' in my reply to one post, after my recent serial and ongoing dismal failures to identify Leadbelly's guitar tunings. How ironic!
