A first try at a new-to-me way to play shuffle blues. A few new lyrics too. Hope it passes muster.

Hey Wayne, I really like that!
I'm sitting here running the vid back and forth trying to tease out some of those licks. Great song, Joe Wonderful stuff.
Your performance prompted me to take from the shelves a 1970 Flyright LP on which are six Ivory Lee Semien recordings including "My Woman Has A Black Cat Bone". The rest of the LP comprises four Juke Boy Bonner and two Big Walter Price. The evocative notes are written by the late Mike Leadbitter who interviewed all three in mid 60s. That's what I like about Weenie, it gets me playing records that were once constantly on the deck and now rarely get remembered. WayneS
Many thanks to both. Not too mnny acoustic blues folk in my neck of the woods, and it's nice to get some feedback.
Speaking of getting out those old CD's: a post somewhere on WeenieCampbell reminded me that Blind Lemon Jefferson recorded a song with some of the original lyrics of Black Cat Bone. "Walked all the way from Dallas, down to Wichita Falls Thinking about my baby, you know it wan't no walk at all." Gotta track that down. WayneS
I might have said "daft," but hey.... ;>) As a professional musician friend of mine says, "I've suffered for my music for years. Now it's your turn."
Seriously, thanks for the nice comments. sustaireblues
Well I've been working on this song, dumbing down the picking where necessary.
I'm having trouble catching one line in the last verse, I got a dime tied round my ankle I wrote her name in dragon blood I got me a ----------------- ? And it sure don't do no good Any help? Joe WayneS
Bill, the line goes:
"I got them gypsies throwin' tricks, y'all, And it sure don't do no good." Seems to me I lifted that line from a Muddy Waters song, but not sure. Pages: [1] Go Up
