Early cigar box recordings
« on: May 19, 2015, 09:57:28 AM »
Hi!

I was wondering if there are any records from the pre war era that were recorded on a cigar box guitar or other homemade instruments. I would guess there are but I have yet to find any.

Thanks!

I've heard speculation that Beans Hambone was playing some kind of home made instrument and its believable based on the sound of the accompaniment on his records. I think the whole idea of homemade instruments being used extensively by blues musicians is a modern contrivance.
