Re-listening, and hearing that the word in question is pronounced with an opening "kw" consonant sound, as opposed to being pronounced the same as "curl", I agree that it should be transcribed as "quirl" and will make that change.

At the peak of the great Mississippi River flood of 1993, the river in Iowa carried 435,000 cubic feet of water a second; at St Louis, after the Missouri River added it's waters, it carried 1 million cubic feet a second... In 1927... the Mississippi would be carrying in excess of three million cubic feet of water each second - J.M. Barry, Rising Tide The Great Mississippi Flood Of 1927

Glad you made that change. I was about to post a Johnny Temple song (there are others on weeniepedia with the "coil" line) when you accepted "quirl".
I'll post it anyway; Johnny Temple - Louise Louise Blues https://weeniecampbell.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=10724.msg93894;topicseen#msg93894 Thanks, John.
And thanks Markc for the additional info on "quirl". Especially the snake reference.
