That's pretty ironic, since Otis's backing band on a recent record I got obviously felt similarly squeezed out by Mr Rush's overpowering talents! See http://weeniecampbell.com/yabbse/index.php?amp;Itemid=60&topic=4294.msg53268#msg53268

Never mind the guitar, listen to that left hand.
Also a glimpse of Fred Below looking like a cool bebopper. dj
Quote Fred Below Gotta say I loved the drums on that one! Great vids folks. Dig the Burnside ones. I rounded a fair bit of them from youtube myself.
Thought I;d add Big Bill. Hopefully it wasn't in hear and I doubled up vids. I think its been posted before but who cares. Its just criminal that there isn't a lot more footage of BBB as well as many others. Who can swing it like Bill? Scott Dunbar maybe?

Yeah that Broonzy vid is pretty essential. Clapton talks about seeing it as a kid on a news show or something & just being totally mesmerized. Another country blues artist he revered . . . & plays nothing like

Here's the whole Broonzy film I believe. This is pretty candid, looks to me like Bill was asked if he remembered his classic flat-picked tune 'How You Want It Done?' & obliges, smiling at his sometimes clumsy rendition.
Bill must've been about 60 yrs old here yet looks like a man in his 30s! What a great piece of film. JRO
Here's a french short film of Big Bill Broozy. It's called Big Bill's Blues and it's form 1956.

It's not quite the whole thing -- I don't know if it's on YouTube, but right after the "How You Want It Done?" he goes into his flat-picked version of "John Henry," which was an active part of his repertoire in the '50s. Chris One of the Belgian students at EBA Bluesweek was actually present as a 16 year old when that Big Bill film was made.

Do you remember where you saw this Chris? The youtube vid is from the 'Legends of Country Blues Vol. 1' vid I believe & does not have that 'John Henry' ending. It was shown at the 1st National Blues Convention, Conway Hall, London 1968 and I think that copy came via the British Film Institute (BFI) but wouldn't swear to it.
