These type of articles are just nth restatements of NIMBY.

If they don't want the refinery in their back yard, be true to your principles and ride donkeys around town.

If you don't approve of mining, show some class and don't use metals.

I grew up in New Jersey and whenever people would rag on the state because of its industry, my reply would be similar to yours. But that's not what the article is about.
