Looking for any info on the rhythm/second guitar technique for The Dixon Brothers, specifically for "A Mother, A Father, A Baby"...tuning?, position?, left and right hand!
Thanks

Hi CookinSherry,
On "A Mother, A Father, A Baby", Howard Dixon plays lap-style slide out of open G.  Dorsey Dixon finger picks (sounds like thumb and two fingers) out of G position in standard tuning.  Get in tune with the recording and you can figure it out pretty quick.  It's a simple progression and everything is right under the left hand.
All best,
Johnm

Thanks John.  I'm more of a "boom-chuck" guy, only using a thumb pick...time to start pullin some power from the pluckers!

I'll add that there are lots of solo recordings of Dorsey Dixon from the 1960s if you want to hear his style without the lap steel. Quite a few on YouTube.
