Hard Times, Come Again No More-S. Foster

Howdy:

I had an opportunity recently to get a copy of the original sheet music for this tune, one I have played for a long time.

I was playing it all wrong. First of all it's in Moderato time, 108-120 bpm, much faster than most modern versions (which I always thought were too slow). Secondly, the IV chord is used sparingly, mostly as an accent. The I and V chords are much more common.

The II7 Chord is used for 1 beat in the chorus.

The tune is notated in the guitar friendly (ha) key of Eb. It's has 8 bar verses and choruses.

FYI: I=Eb, 117=F7, IV=Ab. V=Bb

Verses

I            V7    I   IV       I      V7     I
/ / / /    /   /   /   /         / / / /        / / / /
Pause in life's..

I           V7     I   IV         I     V     I
/ / / /    /   /   /   /          / / / /     / / / /
Song that will...

Choruses

I           IV        I                        II7  V
/ / / /    /  /  /  /     /  /  /  /     /   /    /   /
Song, the sigh...

I          V7    I IV   I       V7   I
/ / / /   /  /  /  /     /  /  /  /    / / / /
Days have you...

When I play the tune I like to play the relative minor in the third and fourth beats of the 3rd bar of the chorus (VIm). But that's not in the original version.

Corrections appreciated.

PS. I play this in G Std.
