Title: Posting youtube links
Post by: Johnm on February 25, 2018, 08:45:39 AM
Hi all,
Youtube has become a great music resource in recent years, and the Weenie site has benefitted from the posting of youtube videos of music that in the past was often almost impossible to find.  One problem with youtube videos and channels is that they sometimes do not have a long shelf life and go inactive or dead for whatever reason.  When that happens, it is often possible to find a more recently posted video of the same performance with which to replace the dead link.  That is only possible, though, if the original posting of the now-dead link included some text identifying the performer and the song being performed.  Without that text, all you have is the dead link, and you don't even know what you're looking for, if you'd like to find an alternative link.

For that reason, if you are posting a youtube link, always include a bit of text naming the performer and the song being performed.  It will make possible the finding of an alternative link should the original ever go bad.  Thanks for your help with this.
All best,
Johnm
