The chocolate tape was sliding off the reels and across the silver recording heads, while the needles on the two meters jumped to the beat on the face of the big Ampex. This was 1959 and I finally had German mics and a Cadillac of a recorder and was doing stereo - the first stereo field recordings made in the South. "Gospel" on PBS
« on: February 15, 2024, 07:30:43 AM »
I haven't seen anyone mention the new documentary on PBS. "Gospel" traces the history of gospel music  (surprise!) in four episodes, narrated by Henry Louis Gates Jr, with lots of interviews. We're thoroughly enjoying it. It's airing this week, but is also available to stream.
