When you hear Gary play that song 50 years later, or when he was in his prime at whatever time period, and brilliant on top of it, that's a really damaging thing to the head. That causes a lot of people not to be able to play all their creative energy because they're really just playing with their own head - Jerry Ricks, Port Townsend 97

Those are some great pictures, Lindy!
And that's a cool article too. I was not aware that Tommy Johnson had any living relatives. Unfortunately the linked article above has been taken down. Lindy's pics are still up, tho'.-G-
All for now. John C. hi. i knew a guy in new orleans that told me his mother was married to tommy and he showed him how to play guitar. his mother had a juke somewhere in mississippi. he was an electric player but he had a good version of canned heat. he was a lawn mower repairman named boogie bill webb. his big hit was a great song named drinkin and stinking.

I seem to remember he turns up on Dr. David Evans' compilation of the late 60s called "Going Up The Country" which came out on the British Decca label. It may have been reissued on CD, but I don't know about that. lindy
Whoops, I haven't seen this thread in a long time. Sorry if I gave anyone the wrong impression, but those are not my pictures, I was just told by the photographer where I could find them. Lindy Pages: [1] Go Up
