And the final posting (at least for the moment) - a version of 'All My Friends Are Gone' (was this after Gary Davis ? Certainly Grossman played it) with me on a Dinsdale 6-string cut-away guitar and Ian Jesse on vocals and clarinet. Recorded in early 1980s.
It doesn't work because the file loads on my desktop as an Excel file and when I open it and go to save it, it only provides certain kinds of extensions. I don't think you can convert a text file into an audio file anyway. Bg
bg you could try just changing the extension of the file on the desktop. It may just have been mislabelled by your software. I ahve downloaded with no trouble.
That doesn't work. I'm on a Mac G4 so maybe my system works differently. Not that simple. For the files to work on my computer, they have to actually download as mp3's. I was able to download some of Waxwing's tunes, for example, as they loaded as iTune mp3 files just fine. Bg
Hey Bg, Feel like I'm talkin' to someone who probably knows a hell of a lot more than me about computers, but, have you tried going into the iTunes Preferences, General and selecting the Set button for "Use iTunes for internet music playback"? I'm running Safari in OS X and have no problem loading Steve's tunes. There's also a setting, which I can't find at the moment, for starting playback as soon as download has been completed. My mp3s were created in iTunes so that's why they may go there more readily than Steve's which may have been created in some other program. Hope this helps. All for now. John C.

iTunes prefs already set. I think the problem is that people use different programs to create their files and there's no uniformity regarding compatibility. It's too bad because I'm really into MJH right now and every song I try to download is an Excel file. Boots, what program are you working with? Bg
Sorry Bg, I don't know. They're coming to me as mp3s, and loading right into iTunes. It sounds like your computer is importing them into Excel and trying to read them. Does Excel open up, or do you already have it open for your work? I'd reboot, make sure Excel is closed and try again with nothing open but your browser and iTunes, just to see what happens. Again, feeling like you probably know more than me, just trying to be helpful. All for now. John C.
