The water broke out in the morning time. We could hear it when it broke, just like a 'Boom!' It busted the levee through. And the water was coming. We could hear the river roaring. People was hollering, 'The levee broke! Get ready and get out!' - David Honeyboy Edwards, April 15 1927, from his bio

« on: December 12, 2004, 07:46:47 AM »

I recorded this ages ago, and i think its scratchy because i sped it up and slowed it down too much teehee..
I usually play this tune as a duet with my guitar teacher at the Pilot...you never know, he might even post his half too!

Hi Kate,

Good to see some new members jumpin' right onto the Back Porch. M&O sure is a fun tune to play. One of the first things I learned in coming to country blues.

Welcome to WeenieCampbell!

Wow, fourth post is to the Back Porch - fantastic!  Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Pilot?

Ah yeh sorry.
The Pilot is the local pub where anyone can bring a guitar and play on a Tuesday night. Its good fun, and interesting to see the people that sometimes turn up lol.

"Pub"  sounds very English, just out of interest which bit of the big wide world are you in?

And, what a music teacher to do M&O, good stuff!
(That's enough of that. Ed)

Nice job Kate - have you tried singing on top of your guitar (that's always a challenge for me).

Welcome to the forum!  Way to dive right into the Back Porch.

Cheers,
slack

But not too far from Edinburgh! Thursday nights - Royal Oak basement, Infirmary Street, from nine!

Would seem I'm on the wrong side of the North/South divide.   :(

It's a strictly acoustic blues session. There's no mic. You sit around in a circle and play blues either solo or ensemble. Young players are especially encouraged to come along, although, to be honest, the average age is, well, o-l-d! Come along and inject some new blood next time you're in town!
